2010 Summit League All-Tournament team
Named first-team All-Summit League after going 9-3 with a 4.41 ERA in 23 games (12 starts) … led ORU in victories, innings pitched (98.0), strikeouts (86) and complete games (6) … walked just 29 batters … his complete game total was the most by an ORU pitcher since Dennis Bigley had seven in 2005 … was 6-1 with a 3.33 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 48.2 innings … made season’s first start against Western Michigan (March 12), allowing two runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings … recorded complete-game effort in 5-4 win over North Dakota (March 27), allowing two earned runs on six hits and striking out seven batters … named Summit League pitcher of the week after blanking Oakland (April 9) and striking out 10 batters … struck 10 in seven innings against Western Illinois (April 24) … fanned a career-high 12 batters in seven innings against North Dakota State (May 21), allowing one run and four hits … dominated Centenary in the Summit League Tournament opener, surrendering one earned run on five hits while striking out 11 in another complete game effort.
2009 Season (RS-Sophomore)
Appeared in four contests out of the bullpen... registered a team-best 2.45 ERA in limited action... struck out two batters with no walks in 3 2/3 innings pitched... limited opposing batters to a .214 average... tossed scoreless innings of relief against IPFW and twice at Dallas Baptist.
Sat out the season due to NCAA transfer rules.

6.94 earned run average in 36.1 innings pitched ... Struck out 16 batters while
holding opponents to a .373 batting average ... Recorded his first strikeout

Texas-San Antonio ... Collected All-Tournament Team honors at the Al Ogletree
Smolen was a first team all-district performer during his playing days for head
coach George Garza at Lamar High School in Houston, Texas ... Was selected to the Ewell
Jackson All-Tournament Team during his senior season.
