Tulsa, Okla. - Drew Bowen pitched a complete game shutout and the Golden Eagles (9-7) beat Missouri State 1-0 in the opening game of a four game series.
Bowen (3-1) recorded his second complete game of the year, giving up just six hits with five strikeouts.
Missouri State (12-6) received a quality start form Pierce Johnson (1-3) who pitched eight innings, allowing four hits and one run with 12 strikeouts.
Brock Chaffin and Luke Voit both had multiple hits, but could not help the Bears bring across any runs. The only offensive threat of the night for the Bears came in the ninth inning with runners on second and third with two outs, but Bowen was able to get Koby Peebles to fly-out to the warning track in left field and end the game.
Game two of the series is set for Friday at 3 p.m. before resuming on Saturday in Springfield, Missouri.
