OMAHA, Neb. - A pair of second half goals proved to be the difference on Friday afternoon as the Oral Roberts women's soccer team shut down winless Nebraska-Omaha on the road, 2-0.

The Golden Eagle offense wasn't able to get their legs underneath them through the first 45 minutes of play, not getting a shot off. However, quickly out of the gate in the second stanza, the Golden Eagles began to wake up.

Just under the first five minutes in the second period, Megan Giles found Mary-Kate Halsmer sprinting down the field. Halsmer made the best of the situation, completing the play by booting the ball in goal for her second of the season, putting the Golden Eagles up 1-0.

In the 78th minute, the Golden Eagles had a couple of solid opportunities, starting off with a shot by Giles that was knocked down by the Omaha keeper Meaghan Clark. Following the save, the Mavs were whistled for a foul, setting up a penalty kick for the Golden Eagles.

As been the case in similar situations all season for the Golden Eagles, freshman Ashley Martin was called upon for the penalty kick. Despite by the penalty kick coming up unsuccessful, Martin followed her shot, scoring the second goal off the rebound from the left post.

Sophomore keeper Helen Erb continues to have one of the more successful seasons between the posts in program history, picking up her fifth shutout of the year, recording two saves in route to her fourth victory.

The Golden Eagles (5-3-2) will remain in Omaha through the weekend as they take to the pitch again on Sunday afternoon at Creighton.
