TULSA, Okla. – The lack of finishing in the penalty area was the story for both teams on Monday as Oral Roberts University and Mid-America Christian played to a scoreless draw at the Case Soccer Complex in men’s action.
The Golden Eagles continue to search for their first victory as they fell to 0-4-1 on the season, while the Evangels moved to 2-1-1.
Each squad had opportunities throughout the match, and MACU finished with a 20-16 shot advantage over ORU. However, the Golden Eagles had one more shot on goal than the Evangels, led by Johnny Chavez and Clive Chafausipo who each had two. Chafausipo led ORU with five total shots and Edgardo Mira took four.
Marcelo Lima and Raphael Bonelle took six shots each for the Evangels, with Lima putting two on target.
Ben LaCourse earned five saves in the match, playing all 110 minutes between the posts in the draw. His counterpart, Tyler McIntosh, also played the full match, recording six saves.
ORU takes the field for the second game of a four-game homestand on Friday evening as they face Rogers State at 6 p.m.
