ORU Takes Ninth at Pat Hicks

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Oral Roberts men’s golf team had the biggest improvement in the second and final round of the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational on Tuesday, but it wasn’t enough as they finished ninth overall with a 36-hole total of 604 (308-296), two shots behind Weber State. Seattle came from behind to win the team championship at 573 (290-283).

Parker Dolezal’s even-par 72, including an eagle, highlighted the second round for ORU, finishing in a tie for 26th at 149 (77-72). Dolezal also finished tied for third in the field with 25 pars out of 36 holes. As a team, the Golden Eagles finished second in the field, carding 112 pars.

Anthony Skirk’s 151 (76-75) put him in a tie for 34th, while Scott Newell (76-77) and David Holtgrewe (79-74) each finished at 153, tied for 41st. Blake Brorman also improved in the final round and finished a shot back of his teammates at 154 (79-75).

ORU will take more than a month off before returning to the course March 17-18 at the 5th Annual Jackrabbit Invitational.
