John Joslin has been at ORU since 2008, and serves as the Director of Sports Medicine.
Joslin came to ORU after spending the previous three years as Head Athletic Trainer for the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Developmental League.
A 1988 graduate of the University of Tulsa, Joslin worked at EOOC for 23 years, where was responsible for patient education, outreach programs for local high schools and contract event coverage. He also assisted athletic training students during clinical rotations.
Joslin gained valuable experience as Head Athletic Trainer for the Tulsa Ambush of the National Professional Soccer League from 1991-1992. He also served an internship with the NFL’s New England Patriots in 1986.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the former chairman of the Oklahoma Athletic Trainers Association (1997-2005), Joslin is certified by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, as well as the NATA.
Joslin has a daugther, Mikayla, a stepson, Brandon, and a grandaughter, Cheyenne.

Emily Calder joined the ORU Sports Medicine staff in August of 2013 after serving two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Kansas. At KU, Calder worked with the swimming and diving programs, and assisted with the athletic training needs for women’s basketball, women’s tennis, football and the KU Relays track and field event.
While in Lawrence, Calder had the opportunity to work with the MLB All-Star Fantasy camp, the Youth Soccer President’s Cup and a number of KU summer camps. While working with the OrthoKansas Orthopedic Group, Calder covered other local high school events.
During the summer of 2012, Calder was the Gatorade Camp Manager at the University of Kansas, supervising 25 employees to cover football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, track, soccer, tennis, swimming and volleyball camps.
Calder graduated Suma Cum Laude from Park University with a 3.97 GPA, while earning NAIA Academic All-American honors as the captain of the softball team. While a student, she worked with the Avila University football and men’s basketball programs, the Kansas City Community College men’s soccer and men’s basketball programs and various programs at Park Hill South HS. As a senior, she worked with rehabilitation services at Centerpointe Medical Center.
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Jacob Newby joined the ORU athletic training staff in the fall of 2013 after five years across town at the University of Tulsa where he worked with the men’s basketball and track & field programs. He will be the primary athletic trainer for the Golden Eagle's baseball program.
Prior to his time at TU, Newby served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at UNLV, where he served as the head trainer of the baseball team. He also was the head athletic trainer at Impact Basketball (Las Vegas, Nev.), an athletic training intern with the Kansas City Chiefs, and a student athletic trainer at Kansas State University.
Newby earned bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology and Athletic Training from Kansas State University in 2005, and his master's degree in Kinesiology from UNLV in 2008.
Newby is a certified trainer with the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
