The mission of the Oral Roberts University Athletics Compliance Office is to uphold the rules and regulations set forth by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Summit League, and Oral Roberts University. The Compliance Office shall serve to advance the uncompromising integrity and commitment to the highest standards of ethical behavior at Oral Roberts University in order to strictly adhere to the letter and spirit of NCAA principles of institutional control. As a vital component to the success of ORU Athletics, the compliance office is committed to the education of the Athletics family on the complexities of NCAA rules in order to ensure a continued tradition of athletic excellence at Oral Roberts University.

As Golden Eagle fans and donors, you must understand the importance of compliance in intercollegiate athletics. With your cooperation and assistance, we can ensure that the eligibility of current and prospective student-athletes is maintained and protected. The actions of boosters can negatively impact both current and prospective student-athletes. Student-athletes and prospective student-athletes may not receive any extra benefit from a booster. An extra benefit is defined by the NCAA as, "any special arrangement by an institutional employee or a representative of the institution's athletes interest (a booster) to provide a student-athlete or the student-athlete's relative or friend a benefit not expressly authorized by the NCAA legislation." It is always best to ask before you act. For further information, please review the NCAA website at NCAA.org or contact the ORU Compliance office at (918) 495-7215.

Oral Roberts is proud to have your loyal support and continued interest in its athletics programs; however it is important to understand that even an inadvertent action on your part can put the University at risk and/or jeopardize the eligibility of a prospect or current student-athlete. As we strive for continued excellence, all of ORU's coaches, staff, and fans must always seek the highest standard of ethical conduct. With your assistance and cooperation, we are certain to accomplish these goals.

The following information is provided as a resource to all supporters of Oral Roberts Athletics so that they may better understand the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Summit League, and Oral Roberts University. However, this information is only a guide and the Compliance Office reminds everyone to "Ask Before You Act."

Top Five Rules You Should Know

1. Am I A Booster? As an alum, fan, or friend of Oral Roberts you are considered a booster. Oral Roberts is responsible for the actions of its boosters. If a booster violates an NCAA rule, even unintentionally, there are penalties for the university and the individuals involved.
Once a booster...Always a booster.

2. What Is An Extra Benefit? You may not provide any type of extra benefit to a prospective or enrolled student-athlete or their family or friends. Examples of extra benefits include, but are not limited to: cash; gifts of any kind; a vehicle or use of a vehicle; free or reduced cost goods or services; arranging, providing, or co-signing a loan; and free or reduced cost housing. An individual can become a booster, if not previously identified as a booster, if he or she provides such benefits.

3. Can A Booster Recruit? As a booster, you may not be involved in recruiting a prospective student-athlete. A prospective student-athlete is a student who has started classes for the ninth grade.

4. Who Can A Booster Employ? You may not employ or arrange for the employment of a prospective student-athlete until after he or she has signed a National Letter of Intent and has completed his or her senior year of high school. You may employ a current student-athlete provided he or she registered the job with the Compliance Office.

5. Always Ask Before You Act!
Oral Roberts Athletics would like to thank you for your continued support of your ORU Golden Eagles. Again, if you have any questions, please contact the ORU Compliance Office at (918) 495-7215.
