DES MOINES, Iowa – Jack Whitt tied for fifth place in the finals of the men’s pole vault event on Friday at the 2010 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

Whitt soared to a height of 5.35 meters (17-06.50) in the pole vault to place fifth, besting the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field national champion, Jordan Scott.

The Norman, Okla., native had an outstanding freshman season, winning five consecutive pole vaults to begin his collegiate career during the indoor season. Whitt earned USTFCCCA All-America honors after placing sixth in the pole vault at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, and claimed both pole vault titles at the Summit League Indoor and Outdoor Championships.
