Former ORU standout Thais Parada joined the Golden Eagle volleyball staff as graduate assistant coach prior to the 2010 season. Parada assists with all aspects of the Golden Eagle program, including tape exchange and setting work. Parada helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 20-11 record in 2011, with a runner-up finish at the Summit League Tournament.
Parada, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, starred at ORU from 2005-08. She led the Golden Eagles to an overall record of 86-43 (.667) and a stellar 47-11 (.810) mark in Summit League play during her four-year career.
Parada was named the 2006 Mid-Con Setter of the Year, when she led the Golden Eagles to the conference title and a 26-9 overall record. Parada set the all-time ORU single-season assists record during the 2006 season with 1,485 helpers for a 12.17 assist per set average, which ranks 3rd in school history.
During the 2008 season, Parada paced the Golden Eagles with 745 assists and 23 service aces, while hitting a career-best .315 on 101 kills.
Parada ranks 2nd in ORU history in career assists (3,551), while ranking 4th with a 10.13 assist per set average and 6th with a .263 career hitting percentage.
Parada’s expertise paid big dividends in 2011, when she helped then-sophomore Laura Taylor mature into one of the Summit League’s premier setters. Taylor tallied 1,172 assists in 2011, the 10th-highest single-season mark in ORU history and the most by an ORU player since the school’s 2006 conference title season.
