ORU's Elder Makes Final Cut for Team USA

Tulsa, Okla.—Oral Roberts University outfielder Chris Elder recently made the final cut on Team USA’s 2011 roster.

Originally selected as an alternate on the 30 man roster, Elder has started in all six games for Team USA so far, helping the national team to a 5-1 record as of June 29.

Elder, a 2011 First Team All-Summit League selection currently holds a .286 batting average with six hits and a pair of RBI’s over the six contests. He recently went 2-3 at the plate with one run and one RBI in Team USA’s 4-1 victory over North Shore on June 26, before tacking on a 2-4, one RBI showing in a 7-5 win over New Bedford on June 29.

The current roster is now down to 21, with an additional four players acting as alternates.

Also representing ORU is head coach Rob Walton, who is serving as Team USA’s pitching coach.
