TULSA, Okla. - The final pieces of the 2012 Oral Roberts University volleyball schedule were made official on Thursday, as the Golden Eagles learned their opponents at the season-opening Blue and White Classic in Buffalo, N.Y. ORU will begin their season on Friday, August 24 against San Jose State, and later in the day they will face Canisius. On Saturday, August 25, ORU will take on the host Bulls from Buffalo.

ORU’s season opener against San Jose State is scheduled for 11 am CT on Friday, August 24. The Spartans were 12-17 a season ago, with a 6-8 mark in Western Athletic Conference play.

At 5 pm CT on August 24, the Golden Eagles will complete the day’s doubleheader against Canisius. The Golden Griffins went 15-15 last season and posted a 10-8 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record.

Sheera Sirola’s team concludes their East Coast trip on Saturday, August 25 with a 5 pm CT match against Buffalo. The tournament hosts went 11-19 last season, with a 4-12 Mid-American Conference record. They went 2-1 in last season’s event, with wins over Syracuse and Cornell.

ORU is 2-0 all-time against Buffalo and has never played San Jose State or Canisius. The Golden Eagles last faced the Bulls on September 10, 2005, a 3-1 win in Pullman, Wash.

Led by Summit League Defensive Player of the Year Bruna Silva, the Golden Eagles went 20-10 last season and advanced to the finals of the Summit League Tournament. The 2012 season is ORU’s first as members of the Southland Conference.
