Mark Milner is in his second season as the Head Coach of the ORU men's tennis program. In his first season, the Golden Eagles showed marked improvement, winning almost four times as many individual matches as they did a season earlier.

Milner was hired as ORU's Head Men’s Tennis Coach on July 18, 2012

“The men’s tennis program at ORU has always been one of our most successful teams, and Mark Milner is the right man to lead us back to a championship level,” said Director of Athletics Mike Carter. “Mark was an integral part of a very successful program at Metro State, and I have no doubt that he will bring that success to ORU for many years to come.”

“I am honored to be selected as ORU’s next Head Men's Tennis Coach and would like to thank Mr. Carter for giving me this wonderful opportunity,” said Milner.  “I intend to represent the University and the athletic department with great pride, and I am looking forward to many successful seasons in the coming years.”

Milner spent the past four seasons at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where he was the assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s tennis programs. The Roadrunner men’s program went to the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2012, its second trip under Milner’s watch.

Previously, Milner had coached both the men’s and women’s tennis programs at Metro State to the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2009. The men’s team went 8-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play that season and made the Round of 16 in NCAA play.

Metro State’s teams had a reputation for success both on the court and in the classroom under Milner’s watch. In Milner’s four seasons, the Roadrunners produced 12 All-RMAC honorees and nine Academic All-RMAC selections. 2012 graduate Lucio Cangiano won the ITA Central Region Singles Championship in each of his final two seasons under Milner’s tutelage.

Milner is also a USTA High Performance Coach.

Collegiately, Milner spent his final two seasons at Metro State, where he graduated in 2007 with a B.A. in Human Performance and Sport. He was a two-time All-RMAC selection in both singles and doubles play, and he also earned Academic All-RMAC honors twice.

Prior to his playing career at Metro State, Milner spent one season at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan., where he was an All-American in the junior college ranks. Milner also played one season of college soccer.

Milner and his wife, Tiffany, have a six-month-old daughter, Scarlett.

Milner inherits an ORU men’s tennis program that captured nine Summit League tournament titles in their 14 years in the conference. The Golden Eagles will begin play in the Southland Conference in 2013.
