TULSA, Okla. - Southland Conference play continues on Saturday afternoon for Oral Roberts University, as the Golden Eagles stay on the road to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. First serve is set for 1 pm CT.

ORU (4-8, 0-1 SLC) enters the contest on a six-match skid, including a 3-0 loss to Sam Houston State on Thursday night. The Golden Eagles swung at a season-low .043 clip in the loss. Tatum Fredeen led the team with nine kills in defeat, while Bruna Silva had a match-high 16 digs.
Silva now averages an even 5.00 digs per set, tops in the SLC, while Fredeen’s 2.83 kills per set lead the Golden Eagle offense.
ORU’s last victory came on September 1, a 3-0 win over Austin Peay.
TAMCC is 8-4 on the season after earning a 3-2 victory over previously unbeaten Central Arkansas on Thursday night. Shannon Hullum led TAMCC with 12 kills in the win.
The Islanders joined ORU at the Mean Green Invitational last weekend and earned a pair of victories at the event, sweeping North Texas and Hofstra.
Junior Brooke Alverson was TAMCC’s lone Preseason All-SLC selection, and she currently averages 2.26 kills and a team-high 0.95 blocks per set. Freshman Brianna Brink leads the Islanders with 3.03 kills per set through the team’s first 12 matches.
The Islanders were picked 7th by both the coaches and the league’s media relations personnel in the Preseason SLC Polls, while ORU was picked 2nd in both polls.
TAMCC Head Coach Tony Graystone is 357-125 in 14 seasons as a collegiate coach, with a 42-64 record in four seasons with the Islanders.
ORU’s Sheera Sirola enters the match with a 174-119 career record. With her next victory, Sirola will become the first coach in ORU history to earn 175 total victories and 100 victories over conference opponents.
ORU and the Islanders have never before faced off on the volleyball court.
The Golden Eagles return home for the first time in nearly three weeks when they face Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday, Sept. 20. First serve at the Cooper Aerobics Center is scheduled for 7 pm CT.
