Junior Jessica Pancratz is also near the top of the SLC leaderboard, with a 1.26 blocks per set average, 2nd-best in the league. Senior Sheina Fernandes ranks 3rd in the league in blocks, at 1.20 per set, and 5th in hitting percentage, at .317.

Lamar has lost three straight matches and is now 9-10 overall, with a 2-4 SLC record. The Cardinals were swept by fellow bottom-table team McNeese State on Saturday afternoon, 3-0, for their third consecutive SLC defeat.

Freshman Cortney Moore led the Cardinals in Saturday’s loss to McNeese State with 13 kills, three blocks and a .417 hitting percentage. Junior Sierra Whitaker had an off day in the loss to McNeese, with only five kills, but for the season the New Mexico State transfer leads the Cardinals with 2.90 kills per set.

The Golden Eagles are 6-5 all-time against Lamar. ORU’s last match against the Cardinals was a 3-2 victory on August 27, 2010 in Edinburg, Texas. Olivia Ophus and Tatum Fredeen notched 10 kills each, and Laura Taylor added 29 assists.

Head Coach Justin Gibert is in his eighth season at Lamar, with a record of 111-123. Overall, Gibert has a record of 244-167 in 12 seasons as a head coach. ORU Head Coach Sheera Sirola is 176-122 in nine-plus seasons leading the Golden Eagles.
