MACOMB, Ill. - The Oral Roberts men's soccer team dropped to 3-12 this season on Saturday afternoon as they fell to Western Illinois, 2-1, despite sophomore Cody Lofgren's third goal of the season.

With the Golden Eagles trailing 1-0, following a goal from off the head of WIU's Nathan Bruinsma early in the ninth minute, Lofgren netted his goal off a free kick from Gerardo Salas. A junior midfielder, Salas was called upon for the free kick following a Leatherneck foul, placing the ball in the box, setting up Lofgren who beat the keeper right post.

Unfortunately, shortly after coming out of the locker room is the 48th minute, Bruinsma struck again, turning a Golden Eagle defensive mistake into an unassisted game-winner.

Despite getting credit for his ninth loss of the season, freshman keeper Ryan Grashik recording nine saves, second most in a contest by the first year player this season. Grashik knocked down 11 shots against Houston Baptist in the season opener.

To go along with Lofgren's goal, John David James had two of his three shots on goal, while Tom Adams put a shot on goal as well. Lofgren took two total shots, as did Marco Hernandez in his first game back from injury, while Neville Francis, Giffith Poindexter and Johnny Chavez added one shot each.

The Golden Eagles have two contests remaining this season, each at home. On Wednesday, they host Division II opponent Newman at 7 p.m., and they close their season next Saturday against conference foe, Omaha.

Senior day activities will take place prior to the contest against Omaha. The match itself is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
