ORU Hosts Arkansas in Monday Night Battle

TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts University returns to the Mabee Center on Monday, November 19 when they face the University of Arkansas. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm CT.

ORU is 2-0 after a 73-41 triumph over UT-Arlington on November 16. Kevi Luper had a masterful performance in the victory, recording 32 points, seven rebounds, six steals and three blocks in just 29 minutes of action.

Luper's senior running mates were also huge in the win over UTA. Savanna Buck tallied her first double-double in nearly two years with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Jaci Bigham dished nine assists.

ORU held Arlington just five field goals and forced 16 turnovers in the second half of play. The Golden Eagles also dominated the glass, 47-33.

Luper was named Southland Conference Player of the Week for her 23-point performance in ORU's season opening victory over Tulsa, and she is the only Southland Conference player on the Naismith Trophy Early Season Watch List.

The Razorbacks are 2-0 on the season after thumping Jackson State on November 9, 97-56, and squeaking by Tulsa, 64-56, in overtime on November 15.

Calli Berna has been the top Arkansas contributor so far, averaging 15.0 points and 6.0 assists per game. Her best performance came against Jackson State, when she scored 22 points and dished seven assists. Teammate Keira Peak had a monster performance against Tulsa, with 17 points and 14 rebounds, and for the season she averages 12.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.

As a team, Arkansas was picked 9th in the SEC Preseason Poll after going 24-9 and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season.

Arkansas Head Coach Tom Collen is the reigning SEC Coach of the Year and holds a 95-66 record in five-plus seasons at Arkansas. ORU's Misti Cussen is 2-0 in her first season leading the Golden Eagle club.

ORU is 8-16 all-time against Arkansas and has lost 11 straight meetings with the Razorbacks.The Golden Eagles fell to Arkansas in their last meeting, 65-37, on December 10, 2011 in Fayetteville. Luper scored 11 points to lead ORU, which shot just 23.9% in the loss. Sarah Watkins led Arkansas with 15 points.

ORU’s last victory over the Razorbacks came on January 2, 1988, a 77-66 win at the Mabee Center.

ORU last hosted the Razorbacks on March 23, 2011, a 78-59 loss in the 3rd round of the WNIT. The Golden Eagles have not hosted a Southeastern Conference team in regular season play since a 64-60 loss to No. 10 Georgia on December 14, 1997.

ORU has a short turnaround before facing UALR on Wednesday, November 21. Game time in Little Rock, Ark., is booked for 5:15 pm CT.
