The 2012-13 season is Matthias Wicks' fifth season as an assistant to Head Coach Joe Dial. He started as a volunteer assistant and is now graduate assistant pursuing an ED in Higher Education Administration. Matthias is a former hurdler/sprinter an graduate of Oral Roberts University (1988-1992).
Wicks has served as security coordinator for the World Youth Trials (2010), multiple JO National Championships, diversity consultant during the US Track and Field Olympic Trials (to local authorities), and has provided invocation for the annual Jesse Owens Awards and USATF Hall of Fame Banquet. Wicks is the founder of the mentoring and youth outreach called "3d Elite Student Athletes Association", where young people are mentored with character building and leadership skills through academics, athletics and civil responsibilities.
Wicks is a USATF level one certified coach and has been coaching for 20 years in junior high, senior high and Junior Olympics, and played vital roles in coaching athletes to state championships and national finals.
Matthias is married to Elonda Wicks, and together have three children: Matthias, Sydney and Mariah.
