ORU Faces Stephen F. Austin to Complete Road Trip

The Golden Eagles (10-11, 7-4 Southland Conference) suffered a 67-63 loss at the hands of a hot-shooting Northwestern State club on Thursday night. The Lady Demons shot 61.9% from the floor, the highest mark for an ORU opponent since 2005, and held the Golden Eagles scoreless in the game’s final 2:51.
Kevi Luper led the Golden Eagles with 19 points in the loss, while Jaci Bigham added 16 points and two assists. Bigham now stands tied with 2006 alumnus Leah Cannon for ORU’s career assists record, at 603.
Luper moved up to 29th in the NCAA Division I scoring record books in Thursday’s loss. The senior from Adair now has 2,651 career points.
Stephen F. Austin snapped a two-game losing streak with a 53-45 victory over Central Arkansas on Thursday night, bumping their record up to 10-12 (5-6 SLC). Porsha Roberts led the Ladyjacks with 17 points in the win, and she is the only SFA player averaging double-figures on the season, at 13.8 points per game.
Tierany Henderson grabbed 10 rebounds in the UCA win and is SFA’s top outside scoring threat, having knocked down 37 three-point field goals on the season.
The Ladyjacks are 6-3 at home and have won their last three games at Johnson Coliseum.
SFA Head Coach Brandon Schneider is in his third season leading the SFA program, with a record of 45-40. ORU's Misti Cussen is 10-11 in her first season leading the ORU program.
Oral Roberts is 2-1 all-time against the Ladyjacks but has never faced Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches.
ORU topped SFA, 63-56, on January 12 at the Mabee Center. Christian Key scored 20 points in the victory, while Bigham added 17 points and 10 assists. Porsha Roberts led the Ladyjacks with 16 points.
The Golden Eagles knocked off the Ladyjacks, 70-68, on December 15, 1984, while SFA returned the favor, 69-64, on December 14, 1985. Both contests took place in Dallas.
ORU returns to the Mabee Center to kick off their final home stand of the 2012-13 season on Thursday, February 14 when they host Sam Houston State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 pm CT.
