ORU Reaches Out to Fairmont Terrace
TULSA, Okla.-As part of its continuing community outreach, the ORU Athletics Department will provide free tickets to tenants at Fairmont Terrace Apartments for Thursday's basketball games against Sam Houston State. Additionally, PCC Cleaning and Restoration will provide free hot dogs, soda and popcorn, and HANDS Ministry will provide free buses to transport the tenants.
"I am so excited that ORU Athletics gave us the opportunity to offer our residents this night out," said Fairmont Terrace Community Manager Angela McGinnis. "A lot of the time there is a lack of means to spend quality family time together and this is such a great offering. Some of our residents have no transportation and we are so appreciative of ORU working with HANDS Ministry to provide that for them as well."
ORU Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing Richard McCutchen, who helped organize the event, had this to say about the ticket giveaway: "The tenants at Fairmont Terrace have been through some adversity recently. They deserve an opportunity to put their worries aside and have some fun. Community outreach is a major part of our mission at ORU so it makes sense for us to extend a hand to these tenants."
"The Tulsa community has treated us well," said Doug Martin, PCC Cleaning and Restoration Operations Manager. "PCC wanted to do something special for a group of people that have faced some tough times. We are happy to provide refreshments for our friends at Fairmont Terrace in hopes that they'll enjoy the game even more."
"HANDS is so grateful for this family night event," said Tracie Salerno of HANDS Ministry. "We thank the ORU Athletics Department and Fairmont Terrace management for allowing us to be a part of this evening. It is truly our pleasure."
Thursday's men's basketball game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. from the Mabee Center. ORU is riding a four-game home winning streak entering Thursday's contest.
