Jason Mechali and the Golden Eagles suffered a loss to UMKC on Saturday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Oral Roberts University finished off a weekend road trip with a loss to Kansas City, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops ORU to 0-9.

The ‘Roos (2-7) opened the day by winning both completed doubles matches. Grant Fleming and Tomas Patino won the top flight over ORU’s Jason Mechali and Pedro Moreno, 8-3, and the third flight went to Abdul Alawadhi and David Heckler, 8-4, over Parker Allen and Braxton Bates.

UMKC also took the three completed singles matches. On the top court, Fabian Zierleyn fell to Nino Hasandedic, 7-5, 6-1, and Fleming won the third court with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Moreno. The fourth court went to Alawadhi, 6-3, 6-4, over Allen.

With UMKC having clinched the victory, the three matches in progress were halted.

The Golden Eagles will continue their season on Monday, March 18, when they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a match with Air Force.
