TULSA, Okla. – It will be a historic weekend at J.L. Johnson Stadium as the Oral Roberts baseball team plays its first ever Southland Conference game on Friday afternoon against No. 23 Central Arkansas at 4 p.m.

The game was originally scheduled to begin at 6:30, but due to weather concerns, the start time was moved up. Game two of the series is set to begin at 2 p.m. on and Saturday and at 1 on Sunday afternoon, weather permitting.

ORU (5-15) is coming off a pair of tough losses at Oklahoma. On Tuesday night, the Golden Eagles and Sooners went 15 innings, the longest game for ORU in four season, with the Sooners coming out on top, 9-8. ORU plated eight runs in the second contest, but it wasn’t enough as the Sooner offense broke open with 15 of their own.

Central Arkansas is the up-and-coming team in the conference, entering this weekend’s series with an 18-3 record, and ranked the highest in school history. The Bears season has been highlighted by a series victory at then No. 3 Mississippi State.

They are led by a strong pitching staff that is tops in the conference with a 2.13 ERA, anchored by their weekend rotation of Caleb McClanahan, Jeffrey Enloe and Bryce Bickerstaff. On Feb. 24, Bickerstaff held Jackson State hitless and struckout nine.

The Golden Eagles have not lost to the Bears in four games, dating back to the first meeting in 2007.
