TULSA, Okla. – With her ability to put up big assist numbers, it was a watch that had people’s attention for a while, but finally on February 9, senior Jaci Bigham broke the ORU career assist record, doing so on the road against Stephen F. Austin.
After posting nine assists against Southeastern Louisiana a week before, the second team all-conference selection needed just three more assists to set the record. She would tie it after being credited with two assists against Northwestern State, matching the 603 mark posted by Leah Cannon.
Just a minute and a half into Saturday’s game, Bigham set the record at 604, feeding the ball into Sarah Shelton for an easy basket. Bigham finished the game with eight assists and a season-high 26 points.
After leading ORU to a regular season and tournament Southland Conference championship, and a berth in the NCAA Tournament, Bigham’s career ended with 668 career assists.
