ORU Faces Lady Lions in Quest for 4th Straight Win

Oral Roberts (11-2, 3-0 SLC) is flying high after sweeping their first three matches of the conference season. ORU’s latest victim was New Orleans, who was dispatched in three sets on Thursday night. Jessica Pancratz led ORU with nine kills in the win, and Luara Rosa added seven.
The Golden Eagles hit .230 in the match, a quality effort after they struggled to a .000 clip in the opening set. ORU held the Privateers to a .000 hitting percentage for the match, a season-low for a Golden Eagle foe.
ORU is one of five undefeated teams in Southland Conference play. Sam Houston State paces the league at 4-0, while ORU and Central Arkansas are both 3-0 and Northwestern State joins Stephen F. Austin at 2-0.
Southeastern Louisiana (6-9, 0-3 SLC) was bested by Central Arkansas, 3-0, on Thursday evening. Parrie Hartley led the Lady Lions with 10 kills and Megan McMillin had a team-high 14 digs.
Prior to losing their last three matches, Southeastern had won four consecutive contests.
SLU Head Coach Jim Smoot is in his first season leading the Lady Lions, while ORU’s Sheera Sirola is 198-128 in her 11th season.
Oral Roberts is 2-0 all-time against Southeastern Louisiana after sweeping the Lions in 2012. ORU last played SLU on October 18, 2012, a 3-1 win in Hammond. Among current Golden Eagles, Pancratz had a team-best 12 kills, while Bruna Silva led all players with 25 digs.
The Golden Eagles return to Tulsa on Thursday, October 3 for a matchup against Stephen F. Austin. First serve at the Aerobics Center is scheduled for 7 pm CT.
