HUNTSVILLE, Texas-The Oral Roberts University women’s golf team failed to find the sub-par round they needed and finished fourth overall at the Harold Funston Invitational. Sam Houston shocked the field and won its home tournament with an 874 (286-298-290) after finishing eighth at the ORU shootout last week.
ORU finished the 54-hole tournament at 901 (294-303-304), eight shots back of Incarnate Word (292-299-302—893).
Alheli Moreno (74-76-76) returned to the top of the ORU leaderboard, tying with teammate Alejandra Acosta (71-78-77) at 226, 17th overall. Shinwoo Lee had the low third round for the Golden Eagles and moved up to third on the team and 22nd overall with a 72 (80-76-72—228). Paty Torres was one shot back after a 79 on Tuesday, giving her a three round total of 229 (73-77-79) and putting her in a tie for 23rd, while Paola Aviles’ score of 231 (76-74-81) put her in a tie for 26th overall.
ORU will close out the fall schedule with the 2013 MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial, hosted by Missouri State, beginning Monday, Oct. 14.
