ORU Tangles with Southeastern on Saturday
TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts University takes the court in front of a Homecoming crowd on Saturday, February 8 against Southeastern Louisiana. Tipoff at the Mabee Center is scheduled for 4 pm CT.

Oral Roberts (6-14, 5-5 Southland Conference) blasted New Orleans on Thursday night, 93-62, to even their SLC record. ORU set season highs for points in a game (93), points in a half (50 in the 1st), margin of victory (31), field goals (32) and made free throws (23) in the victory.
Two freshmen set the scoring tone for ORU against New Orleans, as Noora Jaervikangas and Kaylan Mayberry each had big nights. Jaervikangas scored a career-high 21 points and dished four assists, while Mayberry scored 20 and reached a personal high with six rebounds. Christian Key added 13 points and Alexus Wilson chipped in 11.
Mayberry has had the hot hand for ORU as or late, as she is averaging 20.0 points per game in her last three outings. Key continues to lead the team overall with 13.8 points per game.
With the win, ORU moved into a three-way tie for 7th place in the Southland standings. Sam Houston State and Northwestern each sit with ORU at 5-5 in league play, with the top eight teams reaching the SLC Tournament in Katy.
Southeastern Louisiana is 6-15 overall but is right in the thick of the race to the Southland Conference Tournament with a 5-4 league mark. The Lady Lions fell to league leader Central Arkansas, 70-60, on Thursday night. Aja Gibson scored a team-high 18 points in the UCA loss, while Symone Miller scores a team-high 13.8 points per game.
ORU is 2-0 all-time against Southeastern Louisiana after downing the Lady Lions twice last season. ORU outlasted SLU in Hammond, 81-62, behind 18 points from Sarah Shelton. The rematch in Tulsa was not close, as ORU opened on a 25-2 run and won easily, 90-48. Key led ORU with 22 points in the game.
With a win on Saturday, ORU would notch their fifth straight home victory. The Golden Eagles have recorded at least one five-game home winning streak in each of the last nine seasons.
ORU is back on this road on Thursday, February 13, to face Houston Baptist. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 pm CT.
