ORU Rallies to Defeat Central Arkansas in Overtime, 3-2

CONWAY, Ark. – The Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team scored three unanswered goals to defeat Central Arkansas in overtime by a score of 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Conway, Ark. The Golden Eagles snapped a three-game losing skid to improve to 2-5 on the season, while Central Arkansas dropped to 2-7 overall.

Alex Parker scored the only goal of the first half, converting from 23 yards out to give the Bears the 1-0 advantage.

Kaleb Ferrer tallied his first goal of the season off of an assist from Michael Moritz in the 65th minute as Central Arkansas took a 2-0 lead.

ORU freshman Jarrett Hamilton (Toronto, Ontario) recorded his first collegiate goal to start the rally in the 78th minute.

With only five minutes remaining in regulation, Carlos Pinto (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) knotted the game at 2-2 off an assist from fellow senior Jordan Tatum (Grapevine, Texas). The goal was Pinto’s third of the season and 10th of his career, while the assist was Tatum’s fifth of the season.

With less than a minute left in the first overtime, freshman Josh Erickson (Anoka, Minn.) received a boot from goalkeeper Andrew Techanchuk (Tulsa, Okla.) and converted from inside the box to lift the Golden Eagles to victory.

ORU posted a season-high 26 shots and 12 shots on goal, and limited Central Arkansas to only 10 shots on the afternoon.

The Golden Eagles will return home to open conference play against No. 24 Oakland at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the ORU Soccer Complex.
