Tuscaloosa, Ala.- A five-run second-inning by No.16 Louisville doomed the Golden Eagles as they fell 7-3 in the opening game of the Alabama Classic.

ORU (6-6) was led offensively by Cam Schiller, who knocked in all three of the Golden Eagles runs with his fourth and fifth home run of the season.

Mike Torrence (1-2) started his second game for the Golden Eagles this season. He gave up the five runs in the second-inning before eventually settled down to pitch 6.2 Innings, allowing six runs off 11 hits.

Alex Gonzalez, who has been injured and was not expected to be ready to pitch, came on in relief for Torrence and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

Louisville (10-3) needed one big inning offensively to put away the Golden Eagles, and their pitching did the rest of the work to seal the win. Louisville starter Justin Amlung pitched 7.2 innings, allowing three runs off six hits with six strikeouts. Nick Ratajczak led the Cardinals with his bat, going 4-5 with three RBI.

Brandon King, who struggled to find his swing early in the season, started the Golden Eagles off with a double to center in the first-inning followed by Schiller's first home run of the day,  a two-run shot that gave ORU a 2-0 lead. But Louisville answered back in the second inning, batting around and scoring five runs off six hits to make it 5-2 Louisville.

Both Torrence and Amlung pitched well in the later innings, and neither team could score a run until the seventh-Inning when Ratajczak hit an RBI-single to center field to score Cole Sturgeon and give Louisville a 6-2 lead.

Schiller gave ORU some life in the eight-inning with his second home run of the day, cutting the Cardinals lead to 6-3. But Louisville added one more in the ninth-inning as Ratajczak got his fourth hit of the day to score Adam Engel and give Louisville the 7-3 win.

The Alabama Classic will continue tomorrow at noon when the Golden Eagles face East Carolina.
