ORU Finishes Non-Conference Schedule at DePaul

ORU is 3-6 on the 2012-13 season after falling to Nebraska, 80-67, on December 20. Senior Kevi Luper was 11-for-23 from the floor and led the Golden Eagles with 22 points in the loss, while sophomore Bernadett Balla came off the bench to add 17 points in the loss.
Nebraska ended the first half on a 31-10 run and led at the break, 44-20. ORU trailed by as many as 30 points in the second half but played hard until the final whistle, ending the game on a 16-3 run.
Taylor Cooper matched a career high with a team-best nine rebounds in the loss, while Jaci Bigham and Christian Key scored nine points each. All nine of Key’s points came after the halftime break.
DePaul is 10-3 heading into Friday's contest, and they have won four consecutive games. Senior Anna Martin, a Naismith Trophy candidate, leads the Blue Demons with 16.0 points per game while chipping in 4.6 assists per game.
The Blue Demons took down Princeton, 86-75, on December 21 to extend their winning streak to four games. Brittany Hrynko led DePaul with 21 points in the win, while Martin added 20 points and six assists.
DePaul Head Coach Doug Bruno is 520-285 in his 27th season leading the Blue Demon program. ORU's Misti Cussen is 3-6 in her first season leading the Golden Eagles.
Oral Roberts has never face DePaul before their meeting on December 28.
The Golden Eagles are 0-4 against current members of the BIG EAST Conference. ORU’s last meeting with a current member of the BIG EAST came on November 20, 2010, a 61-52 loss to Villanova at the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md. Bigham led the Golden Eagles with 14 points in the loss, while Luper and Key added 10 points each.
ORU’s other meetings with current BIG EAST teams came against Georgetown (L, 65-70 - 12/30/96), Cincinnati (L, 42-70 - 11/22/97) and Marquette (L, 67-89 - 11/5/08)
The ORU program is no stranger to the city of Chicago. ORU is 7-4 in games played in the Windy City, with a 6-3 record at Chicago State, a 1-0 record at Loyola and an 0-1 record at Illinois-Chicago.
The Golden Eagles open their first ever Southland Conference season on Thursday, January 3, when they take on Southeastern Louisiana. Game time in Hammond, La., is scheduled for 5:15 pm CT.
