Four Student-Athletes Earn SLC All-Academic

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University track and field programs had four student-athletes named to the Southland Conference All-Academic team, it was announced Thursday. Casady Ashcraft and Samantha Watson represented the women’s team, while Ryan Masey and Jack Whitt earned a spot for the men’s team.

Watson and Whitt were automatic selections based on their athletic performances at the Southland Conference Championships, while Ashcraft and Masey were voted onto the teams.

The women’s all-academic team consists of 31 student-athletes including 15 automatic selections while the men’s squad consists of 17 student-athletes including seven automatic selections.

The Southland Conference awards committee, which consists of one administrator from each of the 10 member universities, votes for the student-athletes of the year. The student-athlete of the year award is presented to one student-athlete who achieves excellence in both academics and athletics. All nominees shall have earned at least a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and demonstrated athletics achievement for a least two years at the nominating institution. All-academic members earned at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, completed at least one full academic year and participated in at least 50 percent of the school’s events.
