TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team will kick off its home schedule on Tuesday evening as they host another group of Golden Eagles, John Brown, in an exhibition match at the Case Soccer Complex. The contest, origianlly scheduled for 6 p.m., has been moved up to 6:30, due to a scheduling conflict.
On Sunday, ORU lost its first exhibition match of the season at SMU, 3-1. Edgardo Mira put in the lone ORU goal just minutes into the second half. The exhibition portion of the schedule concludes on Friday evening with a visit from Northeastern State at 7 p.m.
Tuesday’s contest will mark the first time this season JBU, located Siloam Springs, Ark., will take the field. They are led on the sideline by first-year Head Coach Scott Marksberry.
In 2012, JBU finished in fourth place in the NAIA’s Sooner Athletic Conference. Receiving a first place vote, they were picked by the SAC coaches to finish third this season, behind USAO and Oklahoma City.
Sophomore midfielder Eli Simonsen led JBU last season with seven goals and added two assists in his rookie season, while classmate Zari Precod tied Simonsen with 16 points as he scored six goals and helped on four others.
Senior keeper Pablo Garcia knocked away 89 saves for JBU last season in 17 contests.
