TULSA, Okla. – Looking for its second win in as many matches, the Oral Roberts University soccer team will host Northeastern State on Friday at the Case Soccer Complex in an exhibition contest. The start time is set for 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, ORU picked up an overtime goal by Wayne Farmer in the 92nd minute of play to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 victory over John Brown. NSU is coming off an exhibition contest where they were blanked by Missouri State, 3-0.
Friday will mark the third straight season the two programs have matchup in exhibition play, as the Golden Eagles were victorious, 2-1, in 2011 and the RiverHawks came out on top last season, 3-2.
There are high expectations for the RiverHawks entering the upcoming season as they are ranked No. 14 in Division II and are picked to finish second in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Preseason Coaches’ Poll. NSU finished last season with a 13-5-2 overall record.
All-American’s Juan Peralta and Eric Crawford are two of nine returning starters for the RiverHawks from a year ago. Peralta led the team last season with 15 goals.
Juan Gonzalez, Eric Crawford and Peralta each scored goals in the match against ORU last season.
