Trujillo among top prospects; ORU players participate in summer leagues

TULSA, Okla. – Guillemo Trujillo, Kurt Giller and Graham McIntyre highlighted the summer collegiate season for Oral Roberts University as their team, the Brazos Valley Bombers, won the Texas Collegiate League.

The Bombers finished the season with a 49-15 record and were ranked the top team in the nation by Perfect Game.

Trujillo was also recognized by Baseball America as one of the ten top prospects in the TCL. Now a sophomore, the El Paso, Texas, native finished the summer with a 3-1 mark in five starts, a 1.85 ERA and 40 strikeouts. Giller ended the summer stint with a 1.50 ERA in 24 innings.

McIntyre was one of two Bombers to play in all 52 games during summer play. He was second on the team with 38 runs batted in and he hit .246 with ten doubles, a triple and three home runs.

ORU catcher Sam Parker also took part in summer league play with the McKinney Marshalls of the TCL. In 21 games, Parker hit .234 with a pair of doubles and a triple.

Four Golden Eagles headed to Coastal Plain League following the completion of the ORU season. Logan Domenico and Joey Migliaccio played for the Florence RedWolves, while Austen Colt and Brad Fisher played for the Gastonia Grizzlies.

Domenico participated in the second most contests for the RedWolves, hitting .252 with a homerun and 14 RBI’s, while Migliaccio hit .317 in 18 games and had a double. The RedWolves finished with a 20-3 overall record.

Colt finished the summer with a .229 average in 70 plate appearances, hitting a double, a triple and a pair of home runs. He was also called upon to pitch a couple innings, striking out two batters against Columbia.

Fisher made five appearances for Gastonia, picking up seven strikeouts in five innings.

Phillip Wilson and Nathan Garza found their way to Duluth, Minn., as a part of the Duluth Huskies in the Northwoods League. They helped the Huskies to a 43-27 overall record and a North Division Championship.

Wilson made five starts and appeared in eight games, finishing the season 1-3 with a 4.32 ERA. Garza struck out six batters in 9.1 innings. Both Wilson and Garza earned a save.

Gavin Glanz made his impact on the mound in the Alaska Collegiate League as a pitcher for the Matsu Miners. An All-Star team selection, Glanz was 3-1 with a 2.78 ERA, 13th-best in the ACL, and recorded 22 strikeouts in six starts.

A member of the Omaha Diamond Spirit on the MINK (Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas) League, Sky Bushyhead hit .164 with two doubles and three RBI.

Incoming transfer Emmanuel Forcier represented ORU on the Glens Falls Golden Eagles in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. Forcier hit .197 with five doubles and picked up six RBI in 42 games.  

A redshirt last season, Tyler Crupper participated in the Tidewater League for the Greenbrier Knights.

The Golden Eagles begin fall workouts on Sept. 30.
