ORU Competes at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts University continued their 2013 men’s tennis fall season over the weekend, when they competed at the ITA All-American Championships at the Case Tennis Complex. All seven members of the ORU roster took part in the event.

The Golden Eagle returners each put up a valiant effort in 1st round losses. ORU’s Parker Allen fell in his opening match of the tournament, 6-4, 6-1, to Jacoby Lewis of Texas, while Braxton Bates was topped by Everth Dzib of South Florida, 6-3, 6-1. Gabriel Kanelopoulos fell to Jacob Hedderig of IUPUI, 6-2, 6-3, and Jason Mechali lost to Federico Sabogal of South Florida, 6-0, 6-0. Rounding out the ORU returning lineup was Fabian Zierleyn, who took a 7-5, 6-3 loss at the hands of SMU’s Alex Sanders.

ORU also had two newcomers enter the event. Cole Guy was dropped by Ben Morkin of Pacific, 6-3, 6-2, while Michael Sosnowski received a bye to the 2nd round. There he was beaten by Stefan Lindmark of Ole Miss, 6-0, 6-0.

ORU continues their fall schedule on Friday, October 11 at Wichita State.
