ORU Honors Seniors, Hosts New Orleans on Saturday
Prior to the match, ORU will honor the senior class of Sthephanie Mab, Jessica Pancratz, Luara Rosa, Bruna Silva and Laura Taylor. The quintet has led ORU to a pair of 20-win seasons and conference tournament championship appearances in each of the last two seasons.
Oral Roberts (21-6, 13-4 Southland Conference) dominated Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday night, 3-0. Luara Rosa paced the Golden Eagles with nine kills, while Laura Taylor came through with seven kills, seven digs and 31 assists.
The victory solidified ORU’s grasp on the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Southland Conference Tournament. A win on Saturday would clinch the fourth seed and could potentially vault ORU as high as third in the league standings.
A victory on Saturday would also give ORU 22 wins on the season, matching the second-best win total of the season during the Sheera Sirola Era.
New Orleans (3-27, 0-17 SLC) has been eliminated from Southland Tournament contention. The Privateers suffered a 3-0 loss to Central Arkansas on Thursday night. Marti Richmiller led UNO with six kills.
ORU swept New Orleans, 3-0, on September 26. Pancratz tallied a team-high eight kills in the win, while Jovana Poljasevic recorded three solo blocks and four total. The victory improved ORU’s record to 5-1 all-time against the Privateers.
Oral Roberts will learn of their Southland Conference Tournament draw later on Saturday afternoon. The tournament starts on Friday, November 22 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
