RENO, Nev. – Oral Roberts University Track and Field Coach Joe Dial was scheduled to serve as an announcer for the professional competition at the 2014 Pole Vault Summit, but was surprised with the event’s College Coach of the Year honors on Friday.

The Pole Vault Summit is one of the largest pole vault competitions in the world, and will feature competitions among some of the best in the world, including Olympic gold medalists. Former ORU student-athlete Jack Whitt, who was a seven-time All-American and national champion under Dial, will also be competing.

Dial, along with Tom Hays will serve as commentators on the online broadcast of the competition at VaultUnited.com, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (CT).

In his 18th season at ORU, Dial is a 13-time conference coach of the year, and was the 2006 USTFCCCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year.
