Reynolds wins third straight in 400-meter dash at WSU
WICHITA, Kan. – Madison Reynolds earned her third victory in as many meets this season in the 400-meter dash as the Oral Roberts track and field teams compiled nine top five finishers at the Wichita State Varsity Apartments Invitational on Saturday.
Reynolds, a sophomore from Oklahoma City, has won the 400-meter dash in each of her three meets this season. On Saturday, she crossed the finish line with a time of 55.30 seconds, a full second ahead of second place finisher Brarysheyia Simpson from conference foe Stephen F. Austin.
It was no surprise the Golden Eagles were represented on the women’s pole vault stand at the end of the competition as Daniella Szabo recorded her best mark of the season at 3.84 meters to finish third. Szabo’s teammates Linchi Lai and Lauren McFarland finished in the next two spots, respectively, as Lai cleared the bar at the 3.69 meter mark and McFarland recorded a 3.54 meter finish.
ORU men’s field competitor Tim Jones leapt to his best mark this season in the long jump with a mark of 7.06 meters en route to a third place finish. Jones also finished in fifth place in the triple jump with a time of distance of 14.20.
Joseph Reis-Herron recorded his third top five finish in as many meets this season as he crossed the line at the 6.90 mark in the 60-meter dash.
Rounding out the top finishers in the meet was Justin Estala. A freshman from Paris, Ark., Estala placed fourth in the men’s pole vault with his best mark of his early collegiate career at 5.05 meters.
The ORU track and field teams will have a week off before heading to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado for the Air Force Collegiate Open on February 15.
