TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts University looks to right the ship and reenter the Southland Conference Tournament picture on Thursday, February 6, when they return to the Mabee Center to host New Orleans. Game time is scheduled for 5 pm CT.

Oral Roberts (5-14, 4-5 SLC) enters Thursday’s contest on a two-game losing streak after falling on the road to Nicholls State, 71-60, and McNeese State, 73-57, last week. At 4-5 in league play, the Golden Eagles currently sit 10th in the Southland Conference standings, a half-game out of the SLC Tournament picture with nine games to play. The top-eight teams will qualify for the tournament, which begins on March 13 in Katy, Texas.

Kaylan Mayberry led the way for ORU last week, scoring 17 points against Nicholls State and a career-high 23 points against McNeese State. Christian Key was the only other ORU player to score in double-figures last week, with 11 points against McNeese State, while Bernadett Balla pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds against the Cowgirls.

Key continues to lead ORU with 13.8 points per game, a mark that ranks 13th in the Southland, and she now qualifies as the Southland’s leading free throw shooter, at 90.5%. The senior has connected on all 22 of her foul shots in conference play.

Senior Sarah Shelton, who netted 10 rebounds in the McNeese game, leads ORU and ranks 9th in the SLC with 7.8 boards per game. The Ft. Worth, Texas native saw her string of seven straight games with a block end against Nicholls, but she still ranks 3rd in the league at 1.9 rejections per game.

New Orleans is 0-20 on the season, with an 0-9 record in their first season as Southland Conference members. The Privateers are coming off of an 84-55 loss to Southeastern Louisiana on January 30. Octavia Wilson leads UNO with 9.6 points per game after scoring a team-best 17 points in the SLU loss.

ORU is 2-3 all-time against New Orleans, but the two programs have not met since January 24, 1996, an 81-79 Golden Eagle victory in overtime at the Mabee Center. ORU is 2-0 against New Orleans at the Mabee Center and 0-3 on the road.

Oral Roberts ends the week’s home stand on Saturday, February 8, when they host Southeastern Louisiana. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 pm CT on Homecoming day at the Mabee Center, and tickets can be purchased by dialing 495-7ORU.
