Courtney Putnam
Position: Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer
Courtney Putnam is in her third season as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with the ORU Sports Medicine Department. Putnam is the primary athletic trainer for ORU’s soccer and tennis programs, and she also assists with women’s basketball, baseball and track & field.

Putnam is responsible for the medical care of each ORU student-athlete under her supervision. she provides on-site care at ORU practice sessions and athletic events both at home and on the road, communicating with team coaches and physicians to ensure the best possible care for ORU student-athletes. She also assists Golden Eagle student-athletes with injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Putnam is a native of Stillwater, and she graduated from Southwestern College in 2011 with a B.S. in Athletic Training. While at Southwestern, Putnam was a four-year member of the women’s basketball program and a three-time Dean’s List honoree.

Putnam was active in the Athletic Training Department at Southwestern, where she worked with the football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, volleyball and baseball programs. She also worked at Arkansas City High School in Arkansas City, Kan., while in college. Putnam conducted her senior practicum at Cypress Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.

Putnam is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and a State of Oklahoma Licensed Athletic Trainer. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, and she served as the President of the Southwestern College Athletic Trainers’ Society while in college. She is Red Cross CPR certified and a member of the Kansas Athletic Trainers’ Society.

Putnam is currently pursuing a Masters’ Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from ORU and is on track to graduate in May of 2013.
