The 2013-14 school year will mark Ralph Manning's eighth full year as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at ORU. Manning came to ORU after spending two years as the Executive Director of the NSU Foundation, and Director of Development at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla.
Manning has more than 30 years experience as both a coach and administrator at the collegiate level. Prior to his time at NSU, Manning spent 12 years at the University of Tennessee- Chattanooga, serving a variety of roles. From 1990-96, Manning was both head wrestling coach and Compliance Coordinator.
Manning also served one year as NCAA Compliance Specialist at UTC and was later elevated to Assistant Athletic Director for Academics and Compliance.
Before his service at UTC, Manning spent four years (1986-90) as an assistant wrestling coach at Clemson University, and was head wrestling coach at Indiana State for two years (1985-86). Prior to ISU, Manning spent five seasons as head coach at South Dakota State University, producing seven Division II All-Americans. Manning also served head coaching stints at Central University of Iowa (1978-81) and Northeast Missouri State University (1976-78).
Manning received an undergraduate degree in Physical Education from the University of Nebraska in 1974, and earned a Master’s degree in Physical Education at Northeast Missouri State University in 1978.
He and his wife, Vicki, have four children.
