Women's Golf Starts in Kansas
TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University women’s golf team will take the course for the first time this season as they travel to the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational beginning Monday, Sept. 23.
The tournament, which rotates between Manhattan and Lawrence, Kansas, is a familiar one for ORU. The Golden Eagles finished fifth last year and fourth the last time it was held at Colbert Hills. It will be the sixth year in a row in which ORU has competed in the tournament, and the Golden Eagles were the team champions in 2008, winning in a playoff.
2013 Southland Conference freshman of the year, Alejandra Acosta and second-team All-Southland selection Alheli Moreno return for ORU. Honorable mention All-Southland selection Paola Aviles and Shinwoo Lee also return for their sophomore seasons, while Paty Torres will join the active roster after redshirting last season.
The 54-hole tournament will have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Monday playing two rounds, with the final round beginning at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
Live scoring will be provided by the Kansas State Media Relations Department through Golf Stat: http://www.golfstatresults.com/public/index.cfm?tournament_id=4701
