Reeves Leads Golden Eagles to Victory at Islander Classic

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas—Backed by the play of individual medalist Crystal Reeves, Oral Roberts women’s golf team captured its first championship of the season by rallying for a four-stroke victory in the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic, Tuesday at Corpus Christi Country Club.

Reeves captured her second career individual title by finishing the three-round tournament with a one-under par 71. Reeves completed tournament play at 218 (74-73-71) to win by two strokes.

The Golden Eagles, who entered Tuesday nine strokes back and in fourth place, shot a 292 in the third round to finish tournament play at 898 (312-294-292), four strokes better than North Texas (902). Lamar (903), UTSA (905), and Sam Houston State (913) and TAMU-Corpus Christi (913) made up the rest of the top five.

Amber Hensley joined Reeves in the top 10, finishing sixth after a final-round 73 left her at 224 (80-71-73) for the tournament.

Eve Santillan (80-72-76) and Alheli Moreno (78-78-72) tied for 15th at 228. Rachel Romack finished 78th at 264 (86-95-83).

The Golden Eagles next compete at the Jackrabbit Invitational, March 14-15 in Primm, Nev.
