AUBURN, Wash.-Oral Roberts women's golf team is 23rd after the opening round of the NCAA West Regional, Thursday at Washington National Golf Club.
The Golden Eagles shot a 320, and are just five shots out of the top 20. Top-ranked USC leads the 24-team regional after shooting even par 288. The Trojans hold a two-stroke lead over No. 6 Virginia (290) and are four strokes on top of No. 13 Tennessee (292).
ORU junior Crystal Reeves is one of nine players tied for 17th at 2-over par 74. The junior, who started her day on the 10th hole, recorded one birdie and three bogeys on the day. Reeves shot 1-over on the front and back, and trails individual leader Erica Popson (68) of Tennessee by six strokes.
Freshman Alheli Moreno enjoyed a solid first round by shooting 81, good for a tie for 94th. Eve Santillan is tied for 104th after shooting an 82, while Kylie Bollenbach is tied for 112th after carding an 83. Tiffany Robbins is currently 123rd with an 87.
Second round play resumes on Friday.
