LAS VEGAS, Nev.-The Oral Roberts women's golf team posted the two best rounds out of the 18-team field, taking a 17-stroke lead into the final day of competition of the 2012 Bison Invitational at Paiute Golf Club.
Already in front by five shots after firing a 309 in the first round, the Golden Eagles improved to shoot 305 in round two, giving them a day one score of 614, 17 ahead of San Francisco (631).
Individually, as would be expected, ORU has four players in the top-10, with Crystal Reeves (77-75-152) sitting in a tie for first overall. Kylie Bollenbach (76-77-153) is tied for third, while Alheli Moreno (77-77-154) is tied for fifth.
In just her second tournament of the spring, Eve Santillan shot 79-76 for a 155, tying for eighth overall. Although most of the Golden Eagles escaped relatively unscathed against windy conditions in the first round, they got to Tiffany Robbins as she opened with an 83. She settled down and shot 77 in the second round, giving her a 160 for day one, still placing her in the top-20 (T-19th) out of more than 100 competitors.
The Golden Eagles will go off the first three tees Saturday morning and will be paired with San Francisco and Eastern Kentucky, who are in second and third place, respectively.
