MACOMB, Ill. – Four Oral Roberts University men’s soccer players were named to All-Summit League teams on Thursday evening during the league’s annual awards banquet.

Highlighting the ORU selections are forward Marco Hernandez and defender Trevor Laffoon, both of whom were named the All-Summit League Second Team. Defender Wayne Farmer and goalkeeper Ben LaCourse were listed on the All-Newcomer team.

Hernandez, a senior from Claremore, Okla., was second on the team with seven points, including two goals scored and three assists. After having a foot in both goals in a 2-0 victory over Western Illinois on October 12 with a goal and an assist, Hernandez earned the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week award on October 14. In a double-overtime victory against Central Arkansas on October 28, Hernandez netted the equalizer with 1:47 remaining in regulation.

A senior defender from Norman, Okla., Laffoon was a leader along the Golden Eagle backline this season that has allowed just 17 goals, four fewer than the current ORU record of 21 fewest goals allowed.

Farmer was another strong part of the ORU backline. The Liverpool, England native, helped a Golden Eagle defense that held opponents scoreless in five matches, four more than a year ago.

Rounding out the ORU conference award winners is redshirt freshman LaCourse. A native of Tulsa, LaCourse started the first nine matches of the season, recording 40 saves and two shutouts en route to a 3-4-1 mark.

ORU (6-7-4) finished the regular season as Summit League runner-ups in the regular season. The Golden Eagles will face three-seed Western Illinois at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Summit League Championship semifinals.
