Men's Drops Summit League Match at UMKC, 4-2

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Sterling Copeland scored a pair of goals for Oral Roberts but it wasn't enough as UMKC handed the Golden Eagles a 4-2 setback in Summit League play, Friday at Durwood Soccer Stadium.

The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 2-6-1 overall and 0-1-1 in Summit League play. UMKC improves to 5-3-1, 1-0-0.

Copeland gave ORU an early 1-0 lead when he scored in the seventh minute. Jarrett Hamilton was credited with the assist.

UMKC tied the score on a goal by Coady Andrews in the 13th minute, then took a 2-1 lead when John Bayron Sosa knocked in a rebound off an unsuccessful UMKC penalty kick in the 30th minute.

Copeland tied the game at 2-2 in the 32nd minute when he knocked in a goal from 15 yards out.

The Kangaroos quickly regained the lead when a goal by David Sarabia less than six minutes later made it 3-2 UMKC.

Jimmy Simon scored the clincher for the Kangaroos in the 68th minute when he blooped a shot over ORU goalkeeper Andrew Techanchuk for a 4-2 advantage.

The Golden Eagles return to action when they visit SIU-Edwardsville, 1 p.m., Sunday.
