ROCHESTER, Mich.—Oral Roberts men’s soccer dream of reaching the program’s first NCAA Tournament fell short as the Golden Eagles dropped a 2-0 decision to host Oakland in the Summit League Championship title match, Sunday at OU Soccer Field.

The Golden Eagles conclude their 2010 season with a 5-8-6 overall record while Oakland improves to 7-10-3. The Golden Grizzlies now advance to the NCAA Tournament, which begins next weekend.

Oakland scored its first goal in the 36th minute when Jonathan Dreshaj took a cross from Makesi Lewis and poked a shot past ORU keeper Andrew Techanchuk in the 37th minute.

The Golden Grizzlies added the clincher in the 75th minute. Jonathan Evans took a pass from Vuk Popovic and found the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.

Techanchuk, whose exploits in goal during a penalty kick victory over UMKC in the semi-finals helped ORU advance to the finals, faced 17 shots and made three saves in his final collegiate match. He was joined on the all-tournament team by Jarrett Hamilton and Chad Carroll.
