Golden Eagles Lose Two Goal Lead; Fall to Drake
TULSA, Okla.-after falling behind 2-0 in the first half, Drake came all the way back to defeat the Golden Eagles 3-2 behind two goals from freshman Thomas Schermoly.
The Golden Eagles (4-8-0, 1-2 Summit League) jumped out the a commanding lead in the first half with goals from freshman Cody Lofgren in the 4th minute and junior Aaron Birk in the 14th minute. But Drake (9-4-1) managed to cut the lead in half with a goal by Schermoly in the 40th minute. The first half ended with ORU in front 2-1.
The Second half was owned by Drake, as they scored back-to-back goals in the 78th and 79th minute to give the Bulldogs the lead for good. The second goal was a cross by sophomore Bryan Jantsch that was put in by Schermoly for his second of the game. The game winner came just moments later when a cross by sophomore Nick Marshall was headed in by senior Matt Kuhn.
Freshman Keeper Nick Petolick allowed three goals and recorded one save in the game. Senior Jordan Kadlec allowed two goals and made two saves; his record improved to 6-2.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Monday when they face Houston Baptist on the road.
