The Golden Eagles fall to Houston Baptist
TULSA, Okla.-In a caution-filled game that included a player ejection, the Golden Eagles lost to Houston Baptist on Monday night, 2-1.
The Golden Eagles (4-9-0) fell behind early in the first half when sophomore Kristopher Tyrpak scored the go ahead goal in the 52nd minute for HBU. Oral Roberts, who struggled all night to produce an offensive counter attack, and the Huskies (2-9-2) increased the lead just minutes later when sophomore John McDuffee scored the winning goal in the 57th minute to make it 2-0.
Aaron Douthit scored the lone goal for the Golden Eagles in the 78th minute to cut the lead in half, but Douthit's goal was just one of two shots-on-goal for the Golden Eagles and they never managed to get back in the game.
The game was riddled with yellow card cautions. Four yellow cards were handed out to HBU, two of which were pulled on sophomore midfielder Walter Kromholtz who was then ejected with a red card. Three yellow cards were given to ORU.
The matchup showcased two freshman keepers, as Nick Petolick had six saves for the Golden Eagles and allowed both goals, while Kevin Suarez saved just one shot and allowed one goal.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action against UMKC at home on October 22.
