TULSA, Okla. – Searching for its first victory of the season, the Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team hits the road on Friday as they travel to face Central Arkansas in Conway, Ark. The contest will begin at 7:30 p.m.
ORU dropped its first two matches of the season last weekend as they fell to No. 15 Saint Louis on the road, 3-1, and dropped a heartbreaker at home on Monday in double-overtime to Houston Baptist, 2-1. UCA split its first two contests with a 2-1 victory over HBU, followed by a tough 4-3 loss to Incarnate Word.
First-year players Clive Chafausipo, Matthew Rogers and Wayne Farmer have stepped up for ORU early this season. Both Rogers and Farmer have earned an assist, while Chafausipo and returner Tom Adams have each scored a goal.
UCA Junior Logan Miller had the game-winner in double-overtime against HBU, as well as a late goal against UIW to tie the game at 3-all. Freshman Wes Carson has come on strong in his first two collegiate games, netting a goal in each.
UCA holds the series lead with a 4-3 mark, taking last season’s early season match, 3-0. The Golden Eagles took three straight contests in the series from 2008-10.
The Bears, 8-9-1 last season, are picked to finish in sixth in the seven-team Missouri Valley Conference.
