TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team looks to get back on track Tuesday evening as they host Division I newcomer Incarnate Word at 7 p.m. at the Case Soccer Complex.
It will be a quick turnaround for ORU (4-6-2, 2-1-0), who is fresh off a double-overtime loss at Eastern Illinois, 2-1. Alex White scored midway through the first half to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. However, the Panthers answered in the 65th minute to tie the match and scored the golden goal with 48 seconds remaining in the second overtime.
White’s goal was his second of the season, just behind Edgardo Mira who leads the squad with three goals.
Playing all but two home matches on the road this season, UIW has weathered the storm by posting a 4-5 record. Last Tuesday, the Cardinals took on Trinity in their first home game and dropped a 2-1 decision with junior Victory Pinal scoring the lone UIW goal.
Pinal and junior midfielder Alex De La Garza are tied for second on the team with three goals, while senior Vincent Bailey has five goals. Jarred Kahan has started all nine Cardinal matches between the posts and has recorded 33 saves and one shutout.
The two programs last met at a neutral site back in 1991 with the Cardinals getting the best of the Golden Eagles, 6-0.
